Sigma Phi Epsilon, the nation's largest fraternity, is committed to the ancient Greek philosophy that encourages the pursuit of a balanced life through a Sound Mind in a Sound Body. We are proud to have the highest GPA of any national fraternity, and we are the only national fraternity with a GPA above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Yet Sigma Phi Epsilon's mission is not only to provide students with knowledge and experience that enhance a formal education, but also to provide what cannot be attained through a formal education: SigEps are students of life.

The Balanced Man Scholarship is one of many ways Sigma Phi Epsilon embodies the Balanced Man Ideal. The Balanced Man Scholarship allows Sigma Phi Epsilon to recognize outstanding men and women who live balanced lives and strive for excellence in their every endeavor. The Balanced Man Scholarship is open to all MIT undergraduates, male and female. The winner will be determined based on his or her overall commitment to pursuit of a Sound Mind in a Sound Body. Emphasis is placed on academic achievement, athletic involvement, leadership experience, and community service.
