NON-PLEDGING: 4 Years of Continuous Development through the Balanced Man Program

SigEp believes strongly in “Universal Respect for Self and Others” – therefore we have eliminated antiquated pledging and replaced it with the Balanced Man Program, which better enables us to achieve our mission: “Building Balanced Leaders for the World’s Communities.”  New members are respected as equal brothers from Day 1, with voting rights and similar responsibilities to older members.  All members participate in a set of challenges for four years that promote living your best life through social programming, cultural and community activities, IM sports, professional and leadership development, mentoring, and academic enrichment:

SigEp doesn’t break you down to build you back up, we take the best and make them better.”

FRIENDS FOR LIFE:
The Bonds of Brotherhood

Originally founded in 1952, our chapter is rooted in traditions that bring our diverse brotherhood together.  Many of our highly successful alumni serve as mentors to members of the chapter, providing career guidance.  Our brothers also enjoy traveling the nation visiting other chapters via the Red Door Policy.  All brothers make a lifetime commitment to uphold our three Cardinal Principles: Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.

CAMPUS-FOCUS: Getting the best of both worlds on campus and in the fraternity

The chapter has chosen to live in dormitories, so that we all have opportunities to get involved in our dorm communities and to develop a widespread campus-based network.  This adds to our MIT experience, supplementing the support of our brothers in all that we do.  We also have two faculty advisors who work with the chapter: Eric Hudson (8.02 Professor) and Chris Resto (Director of UPOP).  The chapter owns 2 beautiful mansions on Beacon Street in Boston, which are currently being rented out to graduate students and other undergraduates.  The house will be renovated into a Residential Learning Community for Chapter members who choose to make it their home in 1-2 years.
